Marine engines feature high power and complex operating conditions. The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system takes honeycomb ceramics as its core substrate, with a catalyst coated on the surface. Using urea as a reducing agent, it efficiently converts nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) into nitrogen (N₂) and water (H₂O) under operating conditions of high temperature and high flue gas flow rate. The large-size structure and high mechanical strength of honeycomb ceramic substrates can adapt to the "large displacement and high exhaust volume" characteristics of marine engines, ensuring stable catalytic efficiency during the long-term ocean navigation of ships.
Marine fuel oil varies significantly in sulfur content. Honeycomb ceramic substrates can be integrated into the "desulfurization tower + particulate capture" composite system: On one hand, the precious metal coating on the substrate surface can catalytically oxidize sulfur compounds in fuel, reducing the conversion of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) to sulfur trioxide (SO₃) and lowering the risk of "sulfuric acid mist" formation; On the other hand, relying on their three-dimensional network pore structure, they efficiently capture soot particles (PM) emitted by marine engines, and complete particle regeneration through the high temperature of the ship’s exhaust gas itself (or auxiliary heating devices), ensuring the system operates without blockage for a long time.
Marine engines need to adapt to multiple operating conditions such as "ocean navigation, near-port berthing, and idling". The integrated exhaust after-treatment system takes honeycomb ceramic substrates as the core hub, ensuring that all subsystems work synergistically and stably under the complex operating environment of ships, thus meeting the strict requirements of the International Maritime Organization for marine engines.
